U.S. Court Of Appeals Strikes Down FCC Net Neutrality Regulations

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled in a 3-0 decision that the Federal Communications Commission does not have legal authority to enforce Net Neutrality regulations on Internet Service Providers.
If you’ve ever wondered about Net Neutrality and whether it applied to you, the following video is enlightening. Warning: Some adult language.
This issue has been around for a long time, but the fact that the Courts have ruled against the FCC chief Julius Genachowski’s top issue indicates that judges may actually still have a backbone. This doesn’t kill Net Neutrality, but it will force the issue to the Congress, which may or may not be a good thing.
Like the video says, if Al Gores supports it, I’m suspicious.
As a member of the computer technology field, I’ve looked at this issue from every angle I can think of and the biggest argument I have against this issue is that if Net Neutrality succeeds, the government will be in charge of the Internet. This fact alone should scare the hell out of any thinking person who might be considering supporting Net Neutrality. Government involvement is always a slippery slope and if the government starts to control the pipes of the Internet how long before they start to control the content like this website or the thousands of tea party websites around the country.
We’ll enjoy the court decision, but we’ll have to vigilant for any bills introduced in Congress to pass Net Neutrality via legislation. We should all pay attention to this one, because when the government starts to control the message, our voices will go silent.
