What is TeaPartyConnect.com?

Over time, it became increasingly clear there needed to be a place for people to either connect with a Tea Party near them, or learn how to start their own.

Additionally, leaders of Tea Party groups needed a place to share news & ideas, muster national support, or just network with other Tea Party groups.

TeaPartyConnect was created to address those needs!

Why TeaPartyConnect.com?

"The power under the constitution will always be in the people. It is intrusted for certain defined purposes, and for a certain limited period, to representatives of their own choosing; and, whenever it is executed contrary to their interest, or not agreeable to their wishes, their servants can and undoubtedly will be recalled."

So, how come I don’t feel like cheering?

Gallup reported “Congress Ranks Last In Confidence In Institutions” today, saying:

Gallup’s 2010 Confidence in Institutions poll finds Congress ranking dead last out of the 16 institutions rated this year. Eleven percent of Americans say they have “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in Congress, down from 17% in 2009 and a percentage point lower than the previous low for Congress, recorded in 2008.

[..]

This year’s poll also finds a 15-point drop in high confidence in the presidency, to 36% from 51% in June 2009. Over the same period, President Barack Obama’s approval rating fell by 11 points, from 58% to 47%. However, confidence in the presidency remains higher than in 2008 — the last year of George W. Bush’s term — when the figure was 26%.

But the news didn’t get me excited.

MSNBC reported  “Rangel Charged With Multiple Ethics Violations” today, saying:

A House investigative committee on Thursday charged New York Rep. Charles Rangel with multiple ethics violations, a blow to the former Ways and Means chairman and an election-year headache for Democrats.

The committee did not immediately specify the charges against the Democrat, who has served in the House for some 40 years and is fourth in House seniority. The announcement by a four-member panel of the House ethics committee sends the case to a House trial, where a separate eight-member panel of Republicans and Democrats will decide whether the violations can be proved by clear and convincing evidence.

As good as that was, the news didn’t get me fired up.

Fred Barnes published “The Vast Left-Wing Media Conspiracy” in the Wall Street Journal reporting about his own smearing by JournoList Reporters:

This week, Mr. Carlson produced a series of JournoList emails from April 2008, when Barack Obama’s presidential bid was in serious jeopardy. Videos of the antiwhite, anti-American sermons of his Chicago pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, had surfaced, first on ABC and then other networks.

JournoList contributors discussed strategies to aid Mr. Obama by deflecting the controversy. They went public with a letter criticizing an ABC interview of Mr. Obama that dwelled on his association with Mr. Wright. Then, Spencer Ackerman of The Washington Independent proposed attacking Mr. Obama’s critics as racists.

[..]

What was particularly pathetic about the scheme to smear Mr. Obama’s critics was labeling them as racists. The accusation has been made so frequently in recent years, without evidence to back it up, that it has little effect. It’s now the last refuge of liberal scoundrels.

The first call I got after the Daily Caller unearthed the emails involving me was from Karl Rove. He said he wanted to talk to his “fellow racist.” We laughed about this. But the whole episode was also sad. I didn’t sputter at the thought of being called a racist. But it was sad to see what journalism, or at least a segment of it, had come to.

As bad as those words needed to be said outloud about the media, I still just couldn’t start cheering.

AFP reported “Gulf Boats Having Trouble Finding Any Oil: US Official” which unbelievably had the following quote:

Some 750 boats drafted in to scoop up oil from the Gulf of Mexico are having “trouble” finding any crude in the sea, a top US official said Wednesday, almost a week after a busted well was capped.

“We are starting to have trouble finding oil,” US pointman Admiral Thad Allen, who is in charge of handling the government’s response, told reporters.

The boats, which have been drafted in to skim oil off the surface of the Gulf, are “really having to search for the oil in some cases” around the area of the capped well, he added.

At this point, I actually got up from my chair and started jumping up and down saying “Woohoo!” but there was no real enthusiasm in my heart and even my dog knew I was faking it.

The Washington Post reported today, “Senate Democrat Abandon Comprehensive Climate Bill” saying:

Conceding they can’t find enough votes for the measure, Senate Democrats will announce Thursday they are abandoning for now efforts to put together a comprehensive energy bill that would seek to limit greenhouse gas emissions, ending the immediate prospect for a key legislative priority of President Obama and congressional Democrats.

Instead, Democrats, according to sources, will push for a more limited bill that would seek to increase liability costs that oil companies would pay following spills such as the one in the Gulf of Mexico and would create additional incentives for the purchase of both natural gas vehicles and products that can be used to reduce energy use in homes.

And they have not ruled out pushing for a more comprehensive bill during the session Congress will have after the November election.

But again, as high as I jumped and as loud as I hollered, I just couldn’t get excited. (It didn’t help that in the first three paragraphs of the story, you learn that the Climate Bill wasn’t abandoned, it was just postponed.)

So what is it with me, anyway?

As far as conservatives go, this was a red-letter day worthy of confetti and fireworks. How could I not be excited?

What the hell is wrong with me?

Am I turning into a cynical blogger with a crappy outlook on life? Perhaps.

Perhaps the answer is that time and time again, it seems like just when we win some ground on this Medusa we are fighting call “The Liberal Agenda” there are more heads coming up from behind us.

Besides, I think going to save my cheering for the night of November 2, 2010.

However even then, I know that we’ve got to wake up on November 3rd and start fighting again.

I guess I’m just a little battle weary.

  1. Eddie the Patriot says:

I'm battle weary too Bro. We have a never ending fight on our hands that involves our spiritual, financial and domestic lives. In other words our fight is for freedom from tyranny in all aspects of our lives. The battles keep coming and we have to be ready which means we have to be informed and involved. Sitting back and waiting on others to do the "right" thing just won't cut it any longer. We have to all adopt the attitude that my freedom depends upon ME and what I do to preserve it.
